This is how to format number with comma of an EditText when we enter the number.
1.activity_main.xml
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:background="#e6e6e6" android:orientation="vertical" > <EditText android:id="@+id/et_number" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="50dp" android:background="#fff" android:imeOptions="actionDone" android:inputType="number|text" android:maxLines="1" android:maxLength="17" android:textColor="#000" android:textSize="17sp" android:textStyle="bold" /> </LinearLayout>
2.MainActivity.java
public class MainActivity extends Activity {
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
final EditText editText = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.et_number);
editText.addTextChangedListener(new TextWatcher() {
boolean isEdiging;
public void onTextChanged(CharSequence s, int start, int before, int count) {
}
public void beforeTextChanged(CharSequence s, int start, int count, int after) {
}
public void afterTextChanged(Editable s) {
if (isEdiging) return;
isEdiging = true;
String str = s.toString().replaceAll("[^\\d]", "");
double s1 = 0;
try {
s1 = Double.parseDouble(str);
} catch (NumberFormatException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
NumberFormat nf2 = NumberFormat.getInstance(Locale.ENGLISH);
((DecimalFormat) nf2).applyPattern("###,###.###");
s.replace(0, s.length(), nf2.format(s1));
if (s.toString().equals("0")) {
editText.setText("");
}
isEdiging = false;
}
});
}
}
